I’m using Moloco’s new trucks under my car. I bought one of these at the STL RPM meet.

I know that Moloco is releasing these…but I wanted a combo door car at present.

This car lingers on my bench; along with several other MoPac cars. I saw the recent article in The Eagle of Bill Herbert’s scratch built car. He did a fabulous job on that car.

Been a while for me on the board. I went down to McGehee AR over Labor Day. I measured the KO&G caboose that sits near the MP Depot there. There are a few things to report regarding the Wright Trak model.

The cupola (as supplied) with the kit is incorrect. The cabooses cupola did NOT line up with the edge of the roof as the kit shows. Instead the cupola side walls are flush with the raised diagonal bracing of the roof. The Moloco 1501 cupola will fix this…and it’s a much better looking part.

I did complete measurements of the car and will provide them with photos to anyone interested.

I will use the roof (which is very nicely done) and the underframe; etched parts; and perhaps the brake rigging on the last car I have. I will build the car body out of styrene and use either Archer rivets; or make my own via the NWSL riveter…The car would be a really nice kit…especially if someone else like Yarmouth Model works did it.

Is there any data in our books or CD’s on these cars? The End of Car Cushioning would be of interest.

I would use the Moloco Draft Gear kit for the brake components. Ellcon National…

Finally getting around to doing this car up…might be able to bring it to STL this year.

As Charlie said…the numbers chosen are “really close” to MP U23B’s of this variant. We have been suggesting that they do a Phase 3 U23B; with the centered door latches…which would require a new hood…and would let them use the rest of the phase II B version they are using. It’s an excellent model overall…and I like to start with undecorated models myself.

MoPac had 39 (IIRC) of the U23B’s on their roster. So, there’s a pretty good reason to have a couple no matter what or where on the MP system you are modeling.

Rapido wants information on the MP units (NOT the GP16 EMD rebuilds); but the as-delivered MP RS-11’s.

Spoke with Dan Darnell at Trainfest on Nov 10; he indicated he wanted information on the Missouri Pacific versions.

I’m modeling a M of Way car…in the oxide red scheme.

Got mine today…These are really nice castings, actually. I’m going to build it like the last picture, in the oxide red with the freight car trucks under it. One of these sat for years in West Frankfort on the siding south of the depot. It was a tool car.

The decal set is incomplete, however. There are no reporting marks that come with the set.

Is there an add-on set?
