Bud MossParticipant
I am pretty sure there is at least one in Missouri Pacific Lines in Color. Jerry
Bud MossParticipantThe ART book has the details of this series of reefers. Jerry Michels
Bud MossParticipantMakes sense. I guess the Pullman sleeping room would be private and quiet. Even have your own restroom! Thanks. Jerry
Bud MossParticipantBack up the thread, Bill posted the final dates for Pullman sleepers. One thing caught my eye. The use of a sleeper as a parlor car on what I assume was the remnant of the Colorado Eagle. How was a sleeper used as a parlor car?
333 St Louis-Denver– 1-31-1964, operated St Louis-Kansas City, sleeper as parlor until 2-6-1964
3334 St Louis-Denver– 1-31-1964, operated St Louis-Kansas City, sleeper as parlor until 2-29-1964Bill, I agree with Charlie, Kevin needs to put this information in the Eagle. Great stuff! Thanks.
Jerry
Bud MossParticipantA lot of history is lost, especially that on operations, consists and personnel. Unless a person comes upon something out of the blue, like an engineer or conductor timebook the main sources we are left with are employee timetables, track charts and the like. Don’t forget that the EAGLE often as great information. I know all of us want to be able to find all the arcane information but it just isn’t possible. This bulletin board also helps a lot. Enjoy the ‘hunt’ for information. Jerry Michels
Bud MossParticipantHope you have good luck with this sale, Kevin. I bought one of the TRRA timetables. Sure seems we have a lot of non-MP stuff. I know how it goes with donations. You should see the TYCO, old Bachman, and old LifeLike we get donated to the ARM. You sure want to appreciate the kind gesture, but it can drive you crazy. We we need to make sure David doesn’t need a padded cell! Jerry

Bud MossParticipantSounds like a great new project to start after retirement! I know you’ve been working hard between Houston and Wichita for a number of years. I hope you have great success! Jerry Michels
Bud MossParticipantThanks Charlie.
Bud MossParticipantSure looks like a coach yard fire. The roundhouse is off to the left of the photo. Location sure have me baffled. Jerry
Bud MossParticipantHi Bill Thanks for this information. I note the UP cars were pretty popular with Amtrak. They seemed to be some of the best cars Amtrak inherited, along with SP and Q. Jerry
Bud MossParticipantI missed the early transition from the MP to Amtrak, and did not start taking photos until the summer of 1972. Amtrak’s National Limited at that time was a mix of PC and UP equipment, with PC power. It was a very unattractive train, but that wasn’t Amtrak’s fault. They were doing their best with what they had. Jerry

Bud MossParticipantI got a laugh from this statement ‘These laws prohibit the introduction of intoxicants of any description (see exception).’ I remember my paternal grandfather telling me he had a ‘medical exemption’ during prohibition. So did a lot of folks. My grandfather called whiskey his ‘medicine’ until he died in the 1970s. It took me along time to get the meaning he associated with the word medicine! I wonder if they investigated the doctors for the number of medicinal alcohol scripts they wrote?. Jerry
Bud MossParticipantThis would be great! I’d takes two sets. Question is, what tank car model to use? Jerry Michels
