Jerry MichelsParticipant
Nate and Ron, This is exactly the model I have. Mine is painted black, which I think is correct for the 1950s before the renumbering, but it gets in in the ballpark. This was a real help. Thanks so much. Jerry
Jerry MichelsParticipantHi Charlie,
I think before we decide on a specific depot, we need to have a list of the laser kits that are already on the market. ANB still lists a number of them, there is the Butler Depot, and at least on other whose name I forget (Cleaver?).
Most of ANB’s kits are Iron Mountain ancestry, so generically, I would think a smaller Kansas or central Missouri depot would be a good choice. Unfortunately, I would not be in the market for another depot since my layout has what it needs. But then again I am easily tempted….

Jerry MichelsParticipantWelcome Steve. The MPHS is a great resource, filled with friendly people. Are you primarily an historian, modeler,….? Jerry Michels
Jerry MichelsParticipantJust goes to show the incredible value of our Archive. Ten years ago this would not be so quick, if even possible. Just a note that if Missouri Pacific fans and historians want this sort of information to be even more available and of such great quality, please note Kevin’s column in the latest Eagle and get behind the new initiative to build the trust fund for the archive with your dollars. It can be simple and pretty painless these days to set up a recurring monthly payment to the MPHS for the archive. Just think if 100 of us would donate $10/month. That thousand dollars would make the archive blossom.

Jerry MichelsParticipantIt would be wonderful to see this as a model. Sadly, I tried to find plans a number of times and always struck out. Good luck, Gene. Maybe you will find some information. Jerry
Jerry MichelsParticipantCharlie, Did you ever see anything run on the Warsaw Branch? Jerry
Jerry MichelsParticipantThis is a fun film to watch. A time when we celebrated our industries!
Jerry MichelsParticipantThis is sure good news. I thought that line was going to do nothing but rust away. Jerry Michels
Jerry MichelsParticipantAn accurate G-Scale model of the 700-class caboose would be really nice. Jerry Michels
Jerry MichelsParticipantCharlie, you mean that happens to you too? I am still looking for a slide of a Magor caboose that fell behind the workbench when it was still in the garage. That workbench is long gone, but no slide ever showed up. My usual rule is to lose something else and you will find the first thing you lost. Jerry
Jerry MichelsParticipantI agree, I am too far along to work at bashing this model. Although it is appealing. I have about four or five MP resin kit gons in various states of assembly. Jerry
Jerry MichelsParticipantGreat find Ron. What a fine load too! Great place to put all that junk we accumulate. I take it no model is available for these cars.

Jerry MichelsParticipantRon, The gray hopper is really interesting. I have several of these (Overland N&W brass models both wood and rebuilt with steel sides). I had no idea they survived to be painted in “covered hopper” gray. Mine will remain black and in coal service, but this is still interesting. On a 1960s layout, one of these in gray would be a real eye-catcher. Jerry
Jerry MichelsParticipantThese are such good articles. Back in the 1980s when I was working on the Eastern Division line revision of the 1920s I saw these articles and others in Railroad Signaling and Railway Engineering at the Texas A&M library. However, there was no way to scan articles at that time, so I had to settle for poor photocopies from huge bound volumes of the magazines. I really wanted some of the photos for my articles, but that never happened. I even wrote Simmons-Boardman (the publishers) to see if that had archived photos but never got a response. Nice to live in this electronic age!
